Candy Shannon is a media professional and educator who has enjoyed a decades-long career in DC. From her media beginnings in television news and radio in her hometown, Detroit, she was recruited to Washington in 1980 as the first full time female personality at 93.9 WKYS-FM. Candy’s professional life in DC has included narrating books at the Library of Congress, a late-night video show on WUSA – Channel 9, news at Voice of America, satellite radio with WorldSpace. Currently, Candy produces, programs and hosts “The Morning Brew” Fridays from 5am – 8am on public/community radio, WPFW 89.3FM, and teaches in the Media, Journalism and Film Department in the Cathy Hughes School of Communications. Candy earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre at Michigan State University.
