First Time In College (FTIC); applicants are eligible after they complete their 1st semester at Howard University.
The Cathy Hughes School of Communications (CHSOC) Scholarship program is designed to assist current students with the cost of attending Howard University.
The CHSOC Donor Scholarships are competitive and awarded as funds are available.
Required application materials must be completed and submitted by the stated deadline.
Please note: Awards are not automatically renewed each year. Funds are awarded for Fall Semester Only

General
CHSOC Board of Visitors Scholarship (MJFC, SLMC, COSD, CCMS) (Award Amount: $2500) Undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled and transfers are eligible.
CHSOC Adopt A Team (ATPD) (Minimum $2500) Students currently participating in ATPD Program. Office of Student Financial Services will verify EFC score. This scholarship is merit-based. Must follow separate application process. GPA will be considered.
CHSOC General Scholarship (Scholarships Awarded in Various Amounts) Students currently enrolled and transfers are eligible. Office of Student Financial Services will verify EFC score. GPA and need will be considered.
JOURNALISM (PRINT/ONLINE, BROADCAST)
Bloomberg (Scholarships Awarded in Various Amounts) Available to Broadcast News majors. Minimum 2.5 GPA required.
Gridiron ($5000) Students currently enrolled in the Media, Journalism, and Film (MJFC) department are eligible. Office of Student Financial Services will verify EFC score. Minimum 3.0 GPA required.
Lawrence Kaggwa Scholarship (Scholarships Awarded in Various Amounts) Current Journalism students are eligible. Office of Student Financial Services will verify EFC score. This scholarship is need-based. GPA will be considered.
Lionel Chapman/ABC News (Scholarships Awarded in Various Amounts) Available to Broadcast News majors. Minimum 3.5 GPA (Junior or Senior Classification)
Mikel Husband Magazine Scholarship (Scholarships Awarded in Various Amounts) Available to 101 Magazine Editors. Minimum 2.5 GPA
Craig Newmark (Scholarships are awarded to current undergraduate students and transfer journalism majors. Minimum 3.2 GPA with demonstrated financial need with priority given to juniors and seniors).
AUDIO, JOURNALISM, LEGAL, TV & FILM, PR & ADVERTISING
Cox Radio (Scholarships Awarded in Various Amounts) Available to Audio and Broadcast News majors only. (Junior or Senior Classification)
Ofield Dukes (Award Amount: $1000) Available to PR majors only. Minimum 3.0 GPA (May involve a separate application process)
Lewis Fenderson Endowed (Scholarships Awarded in Various Amounts) Available to Advertising, PR, Print/Broadcast/Online Majors. Minimum 2.5 GPA
Fannie Granton Scholarship (Scholarships Awarded in Various Amounts) Available to Advertising, PR, Print/Broadcast/Online Majors. Minimum 2.5 GPA
LA Times Mirror (Scholarships Awarded in Various Amounts) Available to Advertising, PR, Print/Broadcast/Online Majors. Minimum 2.5 GPA
Flip Wilson (Scholarships Awarded in Various Amounts) Available to Print/Online, Broadcast News, TV & Film majors only. Minimum 3.8 GPA.
Richard Parsons (Scholarships Awarded in Various Amounts) Available to Legal Communications majors only. Must have a minimum of 60 credit hours. Minimum 3.5 GPA.
Black Entertainment Television (BET) Scholarship (various amount) For students preparing for careers in the entertainment industry including law, public relations, advertising sales, broadcast, and print journalism. Minimum 3.0 GPA.
PEDAS Financial help for Film Student Productions (Scholarships Awarded in Various Amounts). Minimum 3.5 GPA.
