April E. Copes, Ph.D.

Adjunct Faculty; Assoc. Professor of Communication, Anne Arundel Community College

Dr. April Copes is a performance-based educator with over 25 years of experience in the classroom. In addition to teaching in the SLMC Department, she is an Associate Professor of Communication at Anne Arundel Community College (AACC). She is the co-founder of two learning communities: Just Us: Social Justice for a Just World and Talkin’ & Testifyin’: The History and Culture of African Americans. She enjoys teaching intercultural, interpersonal, and organizational communication, persuasion, communication theory, research methods and public speaking. Her research interests include news representations of labor unions, education, and other issues important to African American voters.
